From what I understand, the SE has a few new features. The feet are different and allow the light to tilt (don't really know why). The red diodes are true 660 reds, which are supposed to be better for photosynthesis. They also changed the 24/7 cycle to help reduce algae and also provide a 3 hour time frame of actual darkness.
